Super Bowl XLI is bound to be an extravaganza of fun and
showmanship. NFL announced that academy award winning actress Marlee
Matlin would be performing the national anthem at the Super Bowl.
Matlin will sign the anthem in the American Sign Language during
pre-game show at the Super Bowl XLI, which will be held in Miami on
February 4, 2007. Matlin will have a rare distinction
and a chance of a lifetime when she signs the National Anthem at the
Super Bowl. Matlin will be doing the show with Billy Joel, who will be
performing “The Star Spangled Banner” at the Super Bowl XLI. Matlin had
earlier performed the National Anthem in the sign language along with
Grammy award winner Garth Brooks during Super Bowl XXVII which was held
at Pasadena, California. This is not the first time that Matlin and
Billy Joel are working together. In fact, Matlin had earlier done a
music video called “We didn’t start the fire” with Billy Joel and has
also given some wonderful performances along side Joel. Matlin is
world famous for her acting. She is an Academy Award winning American
actress who is almost completely deaf. She won the academy award for
her brilliant performance in “Children of A Lesser God”. She was also
awarded a Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Drama for the same
film. Apart from doing films, Matlin regularly appears in number of TV
shows and serials. Some of her recent performances are in “Reasonable
Doubts”, “The West Wing”, “Picket Fences” and “The Practice”.
