The Titans are undefeated and that's bad news for the
Colts. Normally, they are the team with a 7-0 record. They are used to
winning the division and not really having that much competition.
Peyton Manning threw two interceptions in the game on Monday.
Safety Chris Hope of the Titans caught two of Peyton's interceptions.
The
Titans like being overlooked. People constantly talk about the Patriots
and Colts being the stellar teams of the AFC. Many people are not
impressed as Tennessee is the only undefeated team remaining and seems
to be the best team. Make it so bad they are undefeated without Vince
Young. Don't call the Tennessee Titans the NFL's best team just yet.
They like being the only undefeated team in the NFL. They also like
beating a division rival and making their biggest threat fall further
behind in the division. The Titans are on their way to capturing their
first division title in many years.
Chris Johnson and LenDale White are the biggest threats in Tennessee's running game.
LenDale White ran for two TD's. Peyton Manning was intercepted by Chris Hope and that led to a 21-31 loss.
As
previously mentioned, the Colts and Titans are both in unfamiliar
situations. The Colts are used to being the kings of the division and
the Titans are not used to being undefeated-at least not through 7
games. The Titans which are 7-0 have won 10 straight regular-season
games if you go back to last year. If you remember, the Titans beat the
Colts in the last regular season game. The Colts had their bye-week in
front of them and didn't want to risk injury. The Titans needed to get
that win in order to make the playoffs. They did beat the Colts in that
game and they beat them this year. The 10 game win streak matches their
second-best streak in franchise history. Tennessee took control of the
division from Indianapolis, who has won the past five AFC South titles.
The
Titans have won three of four meetings between the two teams. They made
a statement in their last game by beating the "bullies on the block".
"The Colts were the team to beat, and I think now, the Titans are the team to beat," Bulluck said.
Kerry Collins, Tennessee QB, threw for 193 yards and had no interceptions.
"We're
trying to get where they've been," Collins said. "It was a big step for
us tonight I think. We obviously got off to a good start, and to get
one more against a division opponent is again real big at this time of
year."
Jeff Fisher, Titans head coach, credited his defense for
staying patient against Manning and for focusing on the Colts. He
wasn't surprised by their good start.
"The season's still early
and there's a lot of games left," Fisher said. "Our focus was on the
Colts and trying to prepare to find a way to beat them. That was the
commitment that we made this week. We're not looking ahead. We'll now
look ahead to next weekend. As far as the division and all that stuff's
concerned, we're just trying to win ballgames right now."
Coach
Tony Dungy, like everyone else had, called the past Monday night game a
must-win for Indianapolis to have any chance at winning the division.
The Colts have lost two straight regular season games and this is
Manning's worst starts since his first year in the big leagues.
